According to the Deputy Health Minister Viktor Liashko, today in Ukraine more than 3.5 thousand patients with coronavirus can be treated simultaneously in intensive care units.
Let’s take a closer look at the numbers.
- Ambulance cars. There are about 2947 units of cars, of which 2676 are emergency medical care cars and 271 are reanimobiles. There are about 14300 Ukrainians for one ambulance.
- Hospital beds in the infectious diseases wards. There are about 12000 beds: one bed for 3, 500 Ukrainians.
- Artificial ventilation systems. There are only about 2000 systems for 22400 people.
- Infectious disease doctors. There are 3623 infectious disease doctors: each doctor for 11600 potential patients.
What conclusions can be drawn from this? If the number of patients with coronavirus begins to grow rapidly, then the medical system of Ukraine will experience a complete collapse. It has already become clear that we are not ready for a pandemic. Everything related to medicine was sold out. Thousands of doctors are fired, and the hospitals are in terrible condition.
Thousands of volunteers, philanthropists and simply indifferent citizens are combating the virus. And the authorities have once again shown their failure, their cheap populism, their true interests, which certainly do not intersect with the interests of the people.
Stay safe and healthy!
