The head of the main National Corps department Maxym Zhoryn comments on the situation in the country due to the coronavirus crisis.
Our country had a little more time to prepare for the coronavirus epidemic than many other European countries, but we did not take advantage of it at all. Moreover, when the epidemic was already spreading, the govt started speculating and hoarding protective equipment abroad, which now we’re are sorely lacking, he says.
According to Maxym Zhoryn, now the primary problem is not even the state of medicine in the country, the problem is that the govt did not prepare the work of health employees under quarantine.
For example, our volunteers across the country drive health workers to work using their own cars. The govt should have taken care of. They should have taken care of the elderly people in advance. The quality of care provided in Ukraine leaves lot to be desired, but this is not the main problem today. The problem is that the govt speculate and hoard protective equipment abroad, that they are concerned with the creation of VIP-wards in hospitals, not the rescue of Ukrainians, he states.
He says that social services are absolutely not ready to take care of the elderly under quarantine.
It reminds me the events of 2014. Firstly, the govt has again proved that they are incompetent in critical situation. Secondly, Ukrainians to save to save themselves again, Maxym Zhoryn says.
