Mykhailo Zayats, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army fighter and personal bodyguard of Roman Shukhevych, was born on September 28, 1921 in the Lviv region.
At a young age he joined the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and engaged in active social and political activities. Later, Mykhailo joined the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and became one of the two permanent bodyguards of the commander-in-chief of the army Roman Shukhevych.
After the death of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army commander, he did not stop his struggle. Since 1951, Mykhailo Zayats has been included in one of the courier groups.
On December 3, 1952, Mykhailo Zayats was killed in a battle during a military operation in the Ternopil region.
