In the midst of the coronavirus epidemic in Prykarpattia, the surgical department of the Otyniya district hospital, which served almost 30,000 people, was closed.
The outraged community has repeatedly written appeals to the chief physician of the institution and went out to protest. People asked to resume the work of the surgical department, but the opinion of the community was ignored. Meanwhile, local doctors advise patients to seek medical help at the Kolomyia District Hospital. Despite the fact that during a pandemic it is very problematic.
According to officials, the departments were forced to close because the National Health Service of Ukraine did not sign an agreement with the hospital, and there is a shortage of medical staff. However, people are wary that the wards were closed on purpose in order to lease the hospital.
This situation is shameful and unacceptable! This is a clear example of the government’s attitude to the basic needs of Ukrainians. Public authorities should care about the welfare of Ukrainians, not think about their own interests!
