On October 14 Vyacheslav Gusak, the pro-Russian actvist in Bobrovytsia, Chernihiv region, shot a Russian-Ukrainian war veteran who remarked on the distribution of campaign materials of the pro-Russian Opposition Platform For Life Party party on Defender of Ukraine Day.
The war veteran said to the pro-Russian agitators that it was extremely cynical to carry out pro-Kremlin propaganda on the occasion of the Defenders of Ukraine holiday and asked to remove the agitation tent. After the remark, the pro-Russian actvist shot at the veteran three times from a revolver. On the fact of the crime, police opened proceedings under Article 125 of the Criminal Code (minor bodily injuries) against both parties to the conflict.
Realizing the injustice of the protocol, today activists of the National Corps party and other patriotic organizations picketed the police department demanding to reclassify the case against Gusak, opening proceedings under Article 296 part 4 (hooliganism committed with firearms).
“Ukrainian patriots are thrown behind bars, at the same time pro-Russian freaks are accused of only minor injuries,” said Oleksandr Tarnavsky, head of the National Corps in Chernihiv.
Protesters warned of readiness to immediately repel pro-Russian forces in any region of Chernihiv region. After the rally, police promised to take a closer look at the situation and conduct a transparent investigation.
