Ukrainians have always sought independence and have always been ready to fight for it. In the infernal fire of the Second World War, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army appeared, which fought on two fronts for the independence of Ukraine. All UPA leaders were exemplary fighters, for which the Communists hated them and tried not just to eliminate them, but to erase all memory about them.
One such leader of the insurgents was Ivan Treiko. Insurgent ataman of the First Liberation Struggle, consultant to Ataman Bulba-Borovets, general-cornet of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. On July 18, exactly 75 years ago, he died in battles near the village of Gorodnytsia.
Today we continue the struggle waged by Ivan Treiko. We remember his victory and heroic deed.
