Despite the health threat, coronavirus puts in danger our statehood. Oligarchs are increasing their influence on the country. Zelensky couldn’t do better than to seek help from the oligarchy, those who have been profiting from the misery of Ukrainians for decades. Asking them for help is the sign of the govt’s incapacity to rule the country.
Following the meeting with the country’s richest oligarchs, Zelensky agreed to divide Ukraine into the spheres of influence. For example, Rinat Akhmetov became the “curator” of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Zaporizhzhya region belongs to Ihor Kolomoisky now, and Vadym Novinsky got the informal status of “guardian” of Kherson region. This decision can lead to the devastating consequences.
Oligarchs are people without principles. It is silly to expect them to generously volunteer their time to help the country under the crisis. Example: Petro Poroshenko’s team sold “Arkona Gaz-Energia” company in Poltava to Novinsky for 60 times more expensive than it had been initially purchased.
Nowadays oligarchs assist in purchasing of low-quality Chinese express-tests and protective equipment. They corrupt step by step the power. These processes may be the attempt of actual federalization.
