On April 17, 2009 in the center of Odesa the Ukrainian nationalist Maxym Chayka was killed. He was patriot who made a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian Odesa. He is one of the first to debunk stereotypes about Odesa as the Russian city.
In 2008 Chayka organized the first march in Odesa to honor Roman Shukhevych.
Maxim was killed on April 17, 2009 by the so-called “anti-fascists” — Russian sneaks, who in the spring of 2014 became the backbone of the separatist movement in Odesa. However, the ones who responsible for the death of a patriot are still not punished.
The death of Chayka was not in vain. In 2014 Odesa rebelled against the Russians and defended its right to the Ukrainian future.
