The National Corps leader Andriy Biletsky formally appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Denys Shmygal with a request to support domestic producers most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
We demand that effective measures be taken to protect the interests of the national producer and reduce the share of agricultural imports, in particular to ensure a temporary imposition of increased import duty rates for a group of goods of the so-called “borsch set”, which will promote the competitiveness of Ukrainian farmers in comparison with foreign importers, Biletsky said.
Borscht set are vegetables that are included in the classic recipe of the main course of Ukrainian cuisine. Traditionally, the cost of borscht is considered to be a reflection of the real purchasing power of Ukrainians.
Today on April 29 hundreds of Ukrainian businessmen protested near the Cabinet of Ministers. Small and medium-sized businesses require the authorities to stop criminal inaction and protect entrepreneurs, those who are considered the backbone of the state economy worldwide.
