Yesterday, July 22, at a regular meeting of the Tripartite Contact Group (Ukraine, Russia, OSCE), the parties agreed on a “complete and comprehensive ceasefire.” Compliance with this condition will allegedly open the way for the implementation of other provisions of the Minsk agreements. However, it is obvious that this is just another farce that will only free the hands of the occupiers. In practice, the “silence mode” could result in even more losses among Ukraine’s defenders.
It is absurd to negotiate peacefully with Russia in the 7th year of the war, when the Ukrainian military is killed at the front almost every day. So we see that the war in the country is something secondary for the government. The president is not responding to the daily losses, including a war crime committed by militants against a Ukrainian military medic in July. Members of the evacuation team, which was rescuing the wounded, were killed in an ambush. And the result of yesterday’s meeting shows that they want to end the war “peacefully”, but at any cost for Ukraine.
Zelensky’s government continues to negotiate with the enemy and adhere to conditions that the other party does not comply with. “Peacekeeping” actions only increase the number of dead. And the enemy perceives any concessions as a weakness. It is more profitable for the current government to “stop the war by all means”, neglecting 6 years of struggle, the memory of thousands of dead and probably hundreds of thousands of wounded. And while the soldiers are fighting for Ukraine at the front, the highest echelons of power are calmly implementing their plan to “just stop firing.”
