The Verkhovna Rada supported Zelensky’s senseless initiative to expand privileges for ORDLO entrants. 310 people’s deputies passed the bill “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine” On Higher Education”, according to which all entrants from the occupied territories are granted unjustified benefits. In particular, people from ORDLO are able to enter all universities in Ukraine without an external evaluation under a special quota with a guarantee of free education.
Parliament’s decision is a clear example of the harmful populism of clown power. In fact, according to a purely territorial principle, a whole privileged group is formed, which is legally elevated above ordinary Ukrainian entrants from Lviv, Kyiv or Kharkiv. This is a violation of competition when entering universities, which puts Ukrainians from different parts of the country in unequal conditions. I will note that at the same time people from ORDLO receive such additional opportunities at entrance which even children of the lost heroes of war do not have.
In my opinion, this situation is completely abnormal. This colossal injustice is a clear indication of the wrong priorities of the current government in the humanitarian sphere. In addition, all graduates of schools in ORDLO and Crimea in educational institutions undergo anti-Ukrainian propaganda treatment.
The current decision of the Verkhovna Rada expands the threat of education at public expense in Ukrainian universities of collaborators. Of course, not all entrants with ORDLO fall under these characteristics. But it is quite obvious that a significant part of the local youth is infected with Ukrainophobia, and many of them managed to join the fighting on the side of the enemy. For example, in late June, the SBU detained a former ORDLO militant who was planning to enter a Ukrainian university.
Of course, the state must promote the attraction of patriotic youth from the occupied territories. But this policy must be rational and balanced. It is inadmissible to give all entrants from ORDLO, regardless of their loyalty to Ukraine, a higher priority status upon admission.
