The Vyacheslav Galva shooting range, KuzmichShootingGallery, opened on September 7 in Cherkasy on the territory of 31 city gymnasiums. Students will be able to study here. In the future, they want to make the shooting range accessible to all citizens.
This was stated during the opening by the project manager, a representative of the National Corps Eugen Sviridov.
The project was implemented thanks to funds from the city budget, and was decorated by representatives of the Cherkasy National Corps. It was decided to make the grand opening symbolically on the Day of Military Intelligence of Ukraine. And the shooting range was named in honor of the Ukrainian military, a retired colonel of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, a combat training instructor of the Azov Battalion.
Dmytro Kukharchuk, head of the Cherkasy branch of the National Corps, who also took part in the opening of the shooting range today, said that now thousands of students will be able to get the basic knowledge needed to defend Ukraine. And after receiving all the licenses, they plan to organize a shooting club, which will become the base for the Cherkasy territorial defense.
“I remember when he first met Vyacheslav Galva, who came to the Azov Regiment to teach us. He fulfilled his task. He left us like a real warrior, but he did not die. Confidence and courage were embodied in the hundreds of Azov soldiers who liberated Maryinka and Shirokino. Therefore, I am honored to open this shooting range today on the Day of Military Intelligence,” Dmytro Kukharchuk said.
Project manager Yevhen Sviridov, Cherkasy Mayor Anatoliy Bondarenko and parents of the deceased soldier Vyacheslav Galva also took part in the opening of the shooting range on the basis of 31 gymnasiums.
Yevhen Sviridov said that before this room was in an abandoned state and was not used at all. Now the premises have been renovated and improved.
“Now not only can there be a shooting club. There is also an educational part where students can master theoretical knowledge or even teachers can conduct classes here,” said Yevhen Sviridov.
He also added that the club has been operating for about a year, but due to certain technical difficulties and quarantine conditions, it could not work at full capacity. Training, which includes theory and practice, is conducted twice a week. There are four rifles in the circle. And another one was presented today during the opening by representatives of the National Corps party.
According to the director of the gymnasium Vasyl Pivovarov, the shooting range is not just a place where they shoot, but also the central center of military-patriotic education.
“I want to thank all those who made it possible to open the shooting range. We are proud to be able to be named after the Hero of Ukraine. His name will always be with us. Our work on education patriots of Ukraine will be improved thanks to this shooting range”, he noted.
Vladislav Gereles, a former student of 31 gymnasiums and now the head of the Ambros gym, says that the city needs this shooting range, because in a country where the war has been going on for more than a year, every citizen must be able to use weapons.
“Vyacheslav Galva was a professional soldier, scout, instructor. He passed on a lot of skills and knowledge, which saved a lot of lives for the guys who have joined the Azov Regiment, never holding a weapon in our hands. In our gym we often hold training with weapons. Now children and adults will be able to practice here,” he said.
